Popular Eagle Creek Trail Closed By Landslide

According to a web report posted on May 14, 2020 by ABC television affiliate, KATU ( Portland, Oregon), a 25 foot wide landslide of rocks and mud is now blocking the Eagle Creek Trail. The slide is approximately a mile from the trailhead.

The trail will remain closed until the slide is removed and the trail repaired. The Forest Service notes that landslides can be expected when recently burned sections of steep forest land are then doused by heavy rains. It recommends sticking to trails away from burned areas.
