Possibly The Longest Photographic Exposure Ever

A beer can sat unnoticed at the observatory of the University of Hertfordshire for eight years and one month. Inside was a piece of photographic paper and a small pinhole pierced the can on one side.

It recorded 2,953 trails of the sun. Student Regina Valkenborgh began the long exposure project; the observatory’s Principal Technical officer, David Campbell found the can years later.

A German artist, Michael Wesely is credited with holding the previous record at four years and eight months.
