Miho Kajioka’s “Do You Open Your Eyes In The Sea” At Polka Galerie Until January 2021
The Polka Galerie in Paris recently announced that it was re-opening on a limited basis. Given the situation there, opening/closing is probably decided on a minute-by-minute basis. One of the artists available for viewing there through January 9, 2021 is Miho Kajioka. Her show is titled, “Do You Open Your Eyes In The Sea?”
The Peter Fetterman Gallery describes her work as being mostly “snapshot based.” This means she always has a camera at hand and uses intuition to decide what moments of every day life to record. These images become the materials for her darkroom creations, which can involve a number of alternative processing methods. Thus, the artist considers herself to be more of a painter than a photographer, one who create objects instead as someone who prints photographically.
Her Instagram account notes that she was born in Japan in 1973. She studied at Concordia University and the San Francisco Art Institute.
