Happy New Year!

In a few hours, we will be dropping the tennis ball at our house and cracking open the front door to hear people banging on pots, hollering, and lighting their left-over fourth-of-July fireworks. Even though we are all pretty much brain-fogged by virus news, global warming, and global political misery, we are forging ahead with hope for the new year because. Just because.

Tomorrow we take down the holiday lights. Or maybe not. Depends on the moment. Perhaps the only certainty is our collective insistence on preserving what matters to us, come what may. It’s going to take a lot of grit and mutual assistance. And re-learning how to listen to each other with open hearts, and talk in ways that do not immediately lead to drawing weapons and smiting everyone in the room.

It has been a continual effort to keep the Portland Photographers’ Forum functioning. Mostly, the group is a reason to get together to learn from each other, share recent work, and enjoy each other’s company. Lots of people—elected members and regular members—had a very short period of time to invent new ways without knowing if the changes would work or be an hilarious failure. It happened anyway. We don’t have the technological alternatives completely figured out yet, but we are learning. Against all odds, PPF is still here and has big plans for 2021.

Thank you for tuning in, participating, and sticking with us.
