June 10 Deadline To Submit Images For Blanchet House Annual Show

This just in:
”Everyone has a kitchen table. Whether metaphorical or literal, it’s where you gather with friends. It’s where you break bread. It’s where you build and grow relationships that last an evening, a pandemic, or a lifetime. And in Portland, a city that celebrates its restaurant scene and prides itself on a cohesive social fabric, a kitchen table is a sense of identity. A sense of place. A sense of community.

Blanchet House, an organization offering aid to people experiencing homelessness, provides a kitchen table to people pushed to the margins. Not everyone has a roof over their head, let alone a physical space where you can eat, in safety, and without judgment.

Through the On the Ledge art show, Blanchet House’s Emerging Professionals Board seeks to provide a welcoming space to reflect and connect. This year’s theme is Comfort Food. For some, that’s a home-cooked meal. For others, that's a substance that nourishes the soul like music, art, or activism.

With Comfort Food as its theme, On the Ledge invites artists to create original or submit existing works of art that bring attention to food insecurity and housing instability.”

(Web editor’s note: Deadline for submission is 6/10/2022, jurors should announce those accepted by 6/17. Digital assets to be printed by PushDot are due 7/1/2022. Gallery and marketplace is open all through August.)

“All sale proceeds will be split between artist and Blanchet House 50/50. For any original works sold, the split will be 70/30 in favor of the artist.
