LensCulture Announces 2021 Street Photography Awards

Kinda gutsy, eh? Launching a street photography call for work in the middle of pandemic lockdowns, LensCulture admitted wondering what kind of images would arrive. The range of possibilities stretched from “back to normal” to “nature taking over empty streets.”

Entries came in from all over the world, hundreds of them, from four continents. The Jurors began to sift through and quickly noticed the current situation—stuck in the middle—accurately reflected. Online you can view work from 38 winning street photographers. You will also see other calls for work.

Jurors for this contest included:

  • Hideko Kataoka, Director of Photography / Newsweek Japan, Tokyo, Japan

  • Gulnara Samoilova, Founder & Curator / Women Street Photographers, New York, United States

  • Scott Hall, Photo Editor / Travel & Leisure, New York, United States

  • Pierre Terdjman, Co-founder & CEO / Dysturb, Paris, France

  • Danielle Scruggs, Photo Editor / Getty Images, Seattle, United States

  • Jim Casper, Editor-in-Chief / LensCulture, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
