Two New Lens/Scratch Exhibitions Online Now

Ailine Smithson’s Lens/Scratch website has two new exhibitions available online for your viewing. The first, 2021 Vernacular Photography, was juried by Greg Sand. Pieces were selected that dealt with vernacular imagery in unique ways. For example, a found photograph could have been used in a collage or assemblage, a vernacular image could have been placed into a new photography is some way, or the artist could have been working with a snapshot aesthetic in mind.

The second is the Artist Intervenes Exhibition, juried by Adriene Hughes. The concept here is for the artist to add to the image by cutting, sewing, assemblage or creating abstracts in a different dialect. The juror noted that the most engaging works were the ones that raised the question, “..who is this artist and what else do they have to say?”
