Get To Know—Dinh Q. Lȇ

Imagine being born in Vietnam in 1968, just before the time when Khmer Rouge troops crossed the border into your home town. Consider a desperate escape with your mother and your six brothers and sisters—but you were the only child to make it on to the boat. Such was the beginning of Dinh Q. Lȇ’s long journey to the USA, and exhibitions all over the world.

Dinh obtained a BFA degree in photography from USC Santa Barbara and began to use his mat-weaving skills, learned from his aunt long ago, to weave large photo montages. His work often draws upon his memories and feelings of being at the nexus of powerful forces.

Pre-pandemic, I’ve seen his work exhibited at the Elizabeth Leach Gallery, here in Portland, Oregon. The gallery web page has a page where you can inquire about purchasing available work.
