Get To Know: Ivan McClellen’s “Eight Seconds” Series

Portland Monthly features Ivan McClellen’s “Eight Seconds” series of photographs in this month’s edition. Documenting Black rodeo riders began as a “one-off”, but Mr. McClellen quickly noticed there is much more to the event than just horses. The back-stories provide a lot of information about the community of riders and their fans. For example, the photographer noted that he is not a cowboy himself but there are times when the only way to make the image you want is to get up on a horse.
