Get To Know-Evgenia Arbugaeva’s “Arctic Stories
There was a time, before the fall of the USSR, when Dikson was the busy capital of the Russian Arctic. This is the region where Evgenia likes to go now, to face the -40 degree weather, the darkness, the emptiness, the abandoned structures, and the occasional spectacular aurora. Nowadays, people are mostly here because they have work here, for example, meteorologists.
The artist enjoys returning to her childhood. She says it is the only place where she can be herself.
After the respite, she sends her fine art prints to La Galerie in camera, in Paris, where the website explains it “chooses the confrontation between classic, urban, social or engaged aesthetics, and more current sensibilities, open to changes in the landscape, to the exploration of the territory and new margins.” Her exhibition will be there until 4/17/21.
