Ansel Adams In Our Time Exhibition Now Hangs In Portland Art Museum; Opening Date Depends On Covid-19 Stats

In a letter to Photography Council Members, Minor White Curator of Photography for the Portland Art Museum, Julia Dolan, described the process of hanging the exhibition via Zoom conferencing with registrars, conservators, and the curator of the previous exhibition assisting with the installation. (See photo below.)

Everything went well, the show is up, the lights are turned off and everything is locked up tight. Now, we all need to work on bringing down the Covid-19 cases by-perhaps-keeping a slightly greater social distance, avoiding populated areas with little air circulation, double-masking, going out of the house only for essential travel and exercise, and thorough hand-washing. And getting a vaccine shot when it becomes available. Why all this? When the infection rates come down sufficiently, the Art Museum can reopen.

Be on the alert for podcasts and other programs from the Museum that will likely be available before the official opening date.

If you are not a current member of the Photography Council, please consider joining.
