Opal Creek Ancient Forest Center Open To Donations Of Images
Opal Creek wilderness was officially declared to be a protected wilderness in 1998. The recent Beachie Creek wildfire was not kind to Opal Creek and the Ancient Forest Center. It ran over Opal Creek and kept going until over 200,000 acres were burned. Here’s a clip from the Oregon Public Broadcasting report on the aftermath.
Keeping the AFC educational programs going will be a challenge. However, there are many ways to donate on the website. Plus, a small group of photographers with collectable images of the area are submitting image files for possible acceptance into a portfolio of prints that will be offered for sale and potentially used in promotion of the center. If you would like to donate a few digital files, send them to Portland Photographers’ Forum member, Mike O’Brien. If your images are selected, there is a bit of paperwork to complete that describes the relationship between the photographer and the Ancient Forest Center. After that, you send off your donated prints.
