Persistence Exhibition In India Promotes Gender Equity With Images By Women Photographers

A current exhibition at the State Art Gallery at Madhapur features female subjects from various locations around India, created by female artists, and launched on International Women’s Day. The gallery has an ongoing Indian Photography Festival. Works include portraits and street photography. IPF Director, Aquin Mathews, explained “The works are simple examples of women who power through their daily lives with grit to survive, succeed and just be.”

According to Amita Desai, the director of Goethe Zentrum, the exhibition carries the title, Persistence because “Photographs teach us how to perceive life. Perspective can change and every day can be Women’s Day.”   A tag line from a poster about the exhibition mentioned “gender equity today for a sustainable tomorrow.” The show runs through April 7, 2022.
