Get To Know: The Cottingley Fairies And Other Ghost Photography

There was a time when people argued feverishly over non-political matters—such as the existence of ghosts. As explained by Sophia Rodrigues Cuevas, writing for Daily Art Magazine, two friends, one nine and one sixteen, loved to play together in the woods. When they reported that they saw fairies in the forest, no one believed them. So, they borrowed a parent’s camera and went off to produce photographic proof. Of course, people argued about the authenticity of the prints for some time afterwards.
